Details of the classes
The advanced classes at Tango Amistoso are taught by Winston Veerender and Silvia Bivolaru with occasional workshops from visiting teachers to London.
The classes are structured into a term. If you can manage to do the whole term, they should make a huge difference to your Tango journey and take you to the next level. You can also do the classes on a drop in basis. Typical terms are January to March, April to June, July to August, September to November.
The classes are welcoming and everyone at Tango Amistoso is super friendly, but the advanced classes are meant for people who have been dancing Tango for a while so we can keep things quite challenging. And if you can keep up with it, they will be thoroughly enjoyable. There is no easy way to set a criteria for who can attend and who cannot, it is best to have a discussion with the teachers before you come along if you are not sure.
The classes are well structured with exercises and bio-mechanical details during the first hour. The next half an hour, you are expected to dance the tandas in the practica while the teachers take notes. You will then be given feedback, practical tips and advice on how to continuously improve your Tango. Everything we teach is nuanced and will be applicable to dancing at an advanced level in a social setting.
Please note that on very odd occasions, if Winston/Silvia are unable to teach the class due to unforeseen circumstances, the classes will be taught by cover teachers.
How to join the classes
To book for the entire term, you must book with a partner. To do drop-in classes rather thank the whole term, you can book individually on a weekly basis. You must book online before you come to the classes. This is essential so we can balance the numbers. Ideally, please book for the drop-in classes before Wednesday so it allows us to balance the numbers. If you are in doubt if the classes are right for you, please check with the teachers either in person or by emailing tango.amistoso@gmail.com.
